Group Sites

anchor To clarify expectations for both exhibiting artists, site coordinators and the host sites, artists are asked to read the following site conditions carefully BEFORE applying.

Each site has its own requirements of participating artists and artists are required to fulfill their obligations as a condition of participation.
Cheverus (CH)
Brewery Site
Central Congregational Church (CCC)
Eliot School (ES)
First Church Unitarian Universalist (UU)
LoringGreenough Outside (LG)

Shared Studios
Private sites such as Loring Greenough, Taylor House, Footlight Club, Stony Brook Fine Arts

Important Group Site Notes: The event is "Rain or Shine". Artists in outdoor sites need to provide their own tents or have alternative plans, in case of inclement weather. Because all of our group site spaces are graciously provided by members of our community, alternative weather space is not provided for or guarenteed by the JPOS or JPAC.

Also, if you reserve a space, it is assumed you wanted that space. We cannot change your space after registration.

Tent space - you need to bring your own tent or borrow from someone you know. We do not provide tents.

Wall space - This is for hanging artists only. If you need a table, this is NOT for you.

Table space - generally good for small works and 3-d works. Artists bring their own table.

Panel Space - An 8 foot tall by 4 foot wide vertical panel. Panels are provided. NO TABLE provided.

Choose carefully! I hate to say it again, but we are not responsible for moving you after you complete the registration. See more about the registration process here.

Thanks to Charlie Rosenberg and Lori DeSantis for creating the photos.

anchorShared Studios: Anna Koon is the shared studio coordinator

Since JPOS is spread out over a large geographic area, we encourage artists to show together and share studio space during Open Studios to increase the concentration of artists in an area, and to entice the public to visit. Artists are welcome to coordinate this on their own, or indicate your interest to us and we will help coordinate.

If you are an artist who plans to show in your home or studio, please consider inviting other artists to show with you. Several artists already do and the response has been very positive.

As an incentive, when you share your studio or home, you'll save on registration fees:

Share your studio with 2 additional artists, host gets 20% off of registration fee.
Share your studio with 3 additional artists, host gets 50% off of registration fee.

The host will be asked to register (and pay for) all artists showing at their site at the time of registration, so you'll want to finalize this before registering on-line and work out reimbursements among yourselves.

Brewery
1.SITE CONDITIONS:
This site at 284 Amory Street accommodates 25+ artists outside in 10 foot x 10 foot display areas.

Artists have about 8 feet of display space (between columns) and may use the Churchís folding tables for display (one table per artist).
CCC has folding panels available for artistsí use. The panels are hinged so that two panels (approx. 4 feet wide x 8 feet tall each) are attached. ELIOT SCHOOL (ES) : Site Coordinators: Lisa Goren (inside) and Kingsley Weihe (outside).

1. SITE CONDITIONS
This site at 24 Eliot Street accommodates 12 artists inside and 12 artists outside.
Access to electricity is available and artists are required to bring their own code compliant extension cords.
Inside: Artists exhibit on the first and second floor, each artist has approximately 5 feet of tabletop display space, tables provided by ES.
Outside: Each artist has 10í x 10í of display space. Site conditions require a MAX of 600 watts per booth. Check your lamps and plan accordingly. Artists showing outside are required to pay an additional $25 fee to cover the cost of an overnight security guard (payable upon acceptance to this location).
No ES furniture, including stools and chairs, may be taken outdoors.
No signage or marketing materials can be attached to the ES building, sign or fence.
ES staff can not assist JPOS exhibitors. All work involved in hanging and displaying art must be handled by individual artists. ES reserves the right of final approval of all art exhibited. There is no parking on ES grounds. Artists may bring their car in for brief trips to unload and pack up, but remember that space for cars is tight and all artists need to share access to the area. Traffic can get congested at the end of JPOS during clean-up, so we suggest streamlining your pick-up, keeping to a minimum the time your car is actually on the grounds. It will help things go smoothly if artists help each other load their cars during the pack-up period.

2. SET UP:
ES will be open for drop-off and set up of art as follows:
2nd floor inside: 6 pm Fri.
1st floor inside: 10 pm Fri.
Outside: 8 am Sat
Please adhere to this schedule, alternate arrangements can not be accommodated at this site. Artists will need to help move ES tables.
Lightweight muslin backdrops can be hung from indoor pipes. ES reserves the right to restrict hanging of heavy artwork or backdrops from pipes.

anchorLoring Greenough, Taylor House, Footlight Club, Stony Brook Fine Arts and other Private or Hosted Spaces

Some sites are private. Sites such as Loring Greenough House, Taylor House andFootlight Club only house artists who are related in some way to the activities at that location. For example, if you are a set designer, actor, etc at the Footlight Club, you may be included there.

Please note that the Jamaica Plain Arts Council has no control or say as to who gets to show at these private sites. Artists who wish to show at these sites MUST approach the private site and make inquiries.

If they are accepted into one of these sites, artists should register as an individual artist (not as a group site artist).

A sampling of Private Sites and Hosted Sites. For more possibilities, see our Facebook page. Better yet, make your own private site by inviting artists to show with you!

Footlight Club - Private Site. Only artists who are associated with or work with the Footlight Club may be curated in.

Loring Greenough House - Private Site - Contact Carol Summers, carolsummers6@comcast.net
Artists who wish to show at LG House,  either inside or on the lawn,  should call the coordinator, Carol Summers, before registration, to apply for an invitation to the show there.  If accepted, the artist will register with the JPOS as an individual studio location, instead of as a group site. Spaces may be available inside. There is also prime lawn space for people with tents.

Note from Carol: At this point the house is filled, but there are spaces on the lawn for canopies.  Very regrettably, we cannot assign you a second space inside in case of rain.  But, you are welcome to show outside --- it's a feisty and active place, plenty of traffic!
