DESCRIPTION
The Jamaica Plain Arts Council (JPAC) is seeking small works of 2D and 3D original art for a fund raising event to benefit the JP Open Studios. Open Studios supports over 220 artists from JP and 32 other towns who exhibit and sell their work at 75 sites. We celebrate our 16th anniversary event Sept. 26 – 27, 2009.
“SMALL WORKS” show and sale will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Doyle’s Café at 3484 Washington Street in JP from 6 – 9 pm with a suggested donation of $10 at the door. All works will be sold for the uniform price of $50 and all proceeds support Open Studios. Participating artists receive complimentary admission.
For the past 16 years, the business community has provided half of the funding for Open Studios. For the third year, we are asking artists’ to support an event which is important to sustaining and promoting the cultural community.
MISSION
The Jamaica Plain Arts Council is a non-profit organization which supports artists in the Jamaica Plain community through the Open Studios event, exhibitions, professional development and cultivating audiences.
GUIDELINES
All works must be original works of art in any medium, no larger than 5” x 7” for 2D work and no larger than 7” in any direction for 3D work. 2D art work should not be framed.
You do not need to be a JP resident, or Open Studios participant to submit work and artists are welcome to submit more than one work. Any unsold works will be returned to the artist.
YOU MUST INCLUDE the following information with each art work:
1. Name
2. Medium (please be descriptive: “silver gelatin print” is better than “photograph”)
3. Address (street, city, state, and zip)
4. Telephone with area code
5. Email address
